Cubeb Pepper - Indonesia - in Glass tube

Also known as "Java Pepper", or "Tailed Pepper" these small red-brown irregular seeds are from a plant similar to cardamom. They look like peppercorns but bear a small tail hence its nickname. With its peppery, and aromatic taste, with a touch of nutmeg, it may be substituted for pepper in spice mixtures such as quatre-Žpices. It becomes a perfect spice for flavouring patŽs, sausages, gingerbreads and spiced biscuits, as well as a pepper substitute. Because of its aromatic qualities, cubeb is recommended for your meat, and vegetable dishes. It comes as a nice subsitute for allspice, where it will give a more peppery flavour.
